Willingway is a licensed, accredited drug and alcohol treatment center. For more than 50 years, we have been providing high-quality addiction treatment to clients and their families. Since the beginning, our focus has been on family since addiction affects the family as a whole. 

We know that offering cookie-cutter solutions is not the right approach to addiction treatment. Each client we work with has their own history and family situation. For this reason, Willingway provides different treatment programs to suit our clients’ needs at various points in their recovery journey. 

As an addiction treatment center offering a full continuum of programs, we are pleased to include Outpatient Care as part of our services. 

Outpatient Care at Willingway

Willingway Outpatient provides a host of services to meet each client’s needs. From individual counseling to group therapy, It offers a level of treatment perfectly suited to those who want help.

Adults who have experienced negative consequences as a result of their substance use can benefit from the Willingway Outpatient treatment program. Some of these consequences may include:

• financial woes
• legal troubles
• physical problems
• strained family relations

Adult outpatient offerings include:

• intensive outpatient – four days per week, three hours daily
• drug screens
• education and community outreach
• family therapy
• group therapy
• individual counseling

Group Therapy is geared toward learning to live without mood-altering chemicals. Our 12-step philosophy is enhanced with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and incorporates a variety of offerings to promote long-term recovery.

Who can Benefit from Outpatient Addiction Treatment

Outpatient addiction treatment may be a good fit for clients in the following situations:

• Those who have completed a residential addiction treatment program previously
• Those who have experienced a slip or a full-blown relapse and want support to get back on track with their recovery
• Those who don’t have the means to afford a residential addiction treatment program
• Those who can’t take time away from their regular lives to attend a residential addiction treatment program due to employment or family responsibilities

Advantages of Outpatient Addiction Treatment

• Clients who attend outpatient addiction treatment receive high-quality treatment from trained addiction counselors. 
• The flexible schedule allows the client to continue working, attending school, or managing family responsibilities while receiving treatment. 
• With the flexible schedule, keeping attendance at the outpatient addiction treatment confidential may be possible. If a client feels that their employer or school may not be supportive of their seeking help for an addiction, they can get help and keep this part of their life private. 
• Outpatient addiction treatment doesn’t require the client to step out of their regular schedule for several weeks. Not everyone has the financial resources to be away from work and their family responsibilities while they pursue addiction treatment. 
• Attending an outpatient addiction treatment program is more economical than a residential treatment program. Clients who don’t have health insurance coverage for a stay at a residential addiction treatment facility may have coverage for outpatient treatment. 
• Clients who are paying for their addiction treatment out of pocket will find the cost of outpatient treatment much more manageable compared with residential addiction care. 

Role of the Family for Outpatient Clients

• Willingway includes family therapy as part of the Outpatient addiction treatment for an important reason. Addiction doesn’t just impact the person with the addiction; it also affects the entire family. 
• The person with the substance abuse issue has likely broken promises to their family due to their addiction. They may have lied to family members and even stolen from them to fund their addiction. These actions create an atmosphere of anger and distrust toward the person living with the addiction. 
• Family therapy is used to teach the client’s loved ones about addiction. The client’s family needs to understand they are dealing with a disease and that their addicted loved one didn’t have a choice about whether or not to use drugs or drink: the addiction was in charge of their actions. Now that they are in recovery, the client needs support and understanding. 

Continuing Care Community Groups

Willingway Outpatient includes access to one of our thirteen continuing care community groups. The meetings take place weekly and are open to clients recovering from substance abuse and their family members. There is no cost to attend. The meetings are facilitated by volunteers who are friends of Willingway.

Clients who don’t live close enough to attend meetings personally can attend Continuing Care via Zoom. Weekly family group therapy sessions, conducted by an experienced family therapist who specializes in addiction treatment, are also available via Zoom.
