Willingway’s medically supervised detox program provides a safe and effective way to manage withdrawal from drugs and alcohol. In our rehabilitation center, you’ll receive care from experienced medical professionals in a secure and compassionate environment. This level of support is essential for individuals at risk of severe or life-threatening withdrawal symptoms.
When someone first starts using a drug, they usually have a positive experience. They may also feel they can control their drug use. Within a short time, drug use can take over a person’s life. The substance is in control, and other activities the person used to enjoy no longer feel pleasurable.
Detox, short for detoxification, is the process of eliminating drugs and alcohol from the body. This occurs naturally once a person stops using substances, but withdrawal symptoms—often uncomfortable and sometimes dangerous—can arise as a result. If you have been using substances heavily or for a long time, attempting to quit on your own can be risky.
For a safer and more comfortable detox experience, our admissions counselors may recommend medical detox. In our supervised hospital setting, doctors and nurses provide the necessary care to protect you from dangerous reactions and reduce discomfort during withdrawal.
While we treat all substance use disorders, most of our clients seek help for alcohol and opioid addiction—both of which present unique challenges during detox.
If you’re ready to break free from substance dependence and begin your recovery, Willingway is here to support you every step of the way.
Detoxification is the highest level of care offered at Willingway, and with over 50 years of experience, we are a trusted provider for complex medical cases. Under the leadership of our ASAM-certified medical director, our expert medical team has developed a detox protocol designed to minimize withdrawal symptoms and prevent seizures, ensuring clients remain as comfortable as possible.
Willingway is also recognized for our specialized approach to treating high-dose methadone and Suboxone addiction. Our medical staff is equipped to safely manage detox for individuals who have used a wide range of mood-altering substances, including alcohol, street drugs, prescription medications, methadone, and more. The length of detox varies based on factors such as substance use history, medical condition, duration of use, and severity of dependence.
Finding a program that safely detoxes patients from methadone can be challenging. While national standards typically limit methadone detox to people using lower levels, Willingway has developed a protocol that allows us to detox individuals on significantly higher doses.
Our medically supervised methadone detox program spans 21 days and has successfully helped patients taper from doses as high as 400 mg per day. Once a patient is stabilized and no longer at risk of acute withdrawal, we introduce supportive and detoxification medications, with our medical staff adjusting treatment daily based on individual needs. Our approach includes a gradual, extended taper at the end of the protocol to ensure a smooth transition.
With this specialized method, our patients are able to engage in treatment programming without severe withdrawal symptoms or intense cravings, setting them up for a successful recovery journey.
Located on a wooded 11-acre campus in Statesboro, Georgia, we treat clients from across the country who are seeking a safe, peaceful location for addiction treatment. In our comfortable, home-like atmosphere, our goal is to make you feel as safe and relaxed. Clients enjoy visiting our pond, sleeping in a private room during residential treatment, eating three healthy meals a day, and sharing fellowship with our other clients and staff.
