About Dakota Ulmen, Willingway Alumnus
My name is Dakota Ulmen, and I am an alumnus of Willingway. I am in long term recovery, working on 4 years! I decided to make Statesboro my home after completing Willingway and extended treatment, there is just something special in this town that I have found and can’t seem to get enough of it.
Why you are passionate about your position?
I love the opportunity I have been gifted to work with my fellow alumni and help foster a safe place where we can come together and share our experiences and hopefully help the next alcoholic or addict. I enjoy working with our clients because it allows to me give back what I was so freely given. Recovery is possible!
HOW TO REACH DAKOTA: You can reach me at dakota.ulmen@willingway.com or my cell 912-515-7103.
Here at Willingway we offer many services to our alumni. We offer an app for alumni to stay engaged with other alumni and staff. We also offer a unique app to our veteran alumni that offers support specifically for our veterans. We host monthly events for our alumni to engage with one another. We do an annual event, known as Homecoming, where alumni can return and are more than welcome to bring loved ones with them and participate in many events throughout the 2-day event. As far as meetings for our alumni go, we have 2 meetings right now. We have one zoom meeting for those of us who are no longer local or have scheduling constraints. Thursday @ 7:30 am we host our zoom meeting. Thursday at 7:30pm we host our in-person alumni meeting where alumni are invited back to Willingway to take part in a completion ceremony and share their experience, strength, and hope with our soon to be alumni.
As part of our on-going care for alumni, we offer Continuing care community groups. We currently have 7 groups located in 7 different cities. Between the 7 groups they host 6 zoom meetings and 6 in person meetings. These groups provide a unique meeting platform as these groups welcome families and loved ones as well as alcoholics and addicts. We also offer a monthly newsletter known as The Chandelier. This allows alumni to stay engaged and up to date on what is currently going on in and around Willingway.
It is Willingway’s greatest hope that through our Alumni Program we are able to foster connections in ways that strengthen recovery and make hearts and lives more full. Upon completion of our program, alumni have a strong foundation for sobriety, but care does not end at graduation. Our aim is to provide you with a smooth transition between your inpatient experience and everyday life, with continued involvement and support that keeps you connected to Willingway and recovery. Once you come through treatment with us, we consider you a part of our family.
We invite you to stay connected with us through our Alumni Program, which offers the following benefits:
