Alumni Spotlight: Megan P

“I am eternally grateful for what Willingway has done for my life…words don’t do the amount of gratitude I have.  When I came here 5 years ago I was a shell of a human being, I hadn’t drawn a sober breath in almost 20 years and I did not think there was hope that an addict like me could get sober.  I came to treatment to make my family happy in the beginning…and because I had nowhere else to go, thankfully there was a switch that flipped along the way and I actually started wanting this way of life for myself.  Detox was hard, sober living was hard but the life I have today makes all that worth it.  I have the beautiful opportunity to be a part of this recovery community today and I try to continue to put the work in one day at a time.  Working with women in AA brings me purpose and happiness, the kind of fulfillment drugs and alcohol could never.  I have found true connection with my fellows today and that all started at Willingway.  If this drug addict and alcoholic has been able to find a life of freedom anyone can! We do recover!”
